What is your grading policy?
I grade on a proficiency based scale at Windham High School. I look for more understanding of the concepts rather than just right or wrong. I still expect students to be able to answer questions correctly, but my policy helps eliminate the idea of "silly mistakes". What I have done is convert the grading scale from a 0-4 to match the Windham grading scale as it is. A 4 is an A, 3 is a B, 2 is a C, a 1 is a D, and a 0 is an F.
When are you late nights?
My late night change weekly because of meetings and schedules outside of school. I try to available at least 2 days after school with one of them being a late night. Students can sign up in my classroom to stay after or email me any time. I will schedule the best time for the both of us to get things caught up and done.
What happens when I (or my child) misses class?
You can always email me for catch up on class work. If you know you are going to be absent, try to make a plan with me early on in the week so that we can really get you set up to succeed. Late nights are a great way to catch up or you could always check in with a buddy in the class first!
